Our team of specialized therapists is proud to offer Brainspotting to our clients.

What is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a gentle and effective way to heal trauma.

It uses eye positions combined with binaural music to optimize your neurobiology to process efficiently, just as your brain was designed to. As David Grand, the inventor of Brainspotting, says:

"Where you look affects how you feel.”

What are the benefits of Brainspotting?

The beauty of Brainspotting is that it works with your brain and body in the moment. It doesn't force or suggest anything new, but rather asks your brain to heal from within.

It's truly a way to heal from the inside out. Brainspotting not only taps into your deepest sense of distress… it also taps into your natural resilience.

The benefits of Brainspotting are profound, and can include:

  • reduced anxiety and agitation

  • softer reactions to past memories and trauma

  • clarity about bothersome events from the past

  • relief from chronic pain and chronic fatigue

  • reduced impulsivity

  • improved athletic performance

  • recovery from surgery and physical traumas

How does Brainspotting work?

Brianspotting starts like every other therapy session, by building a foundation of trust and relationship.

From there, your therapist will guide you to a specific eye position or positions to access neural networks related to the issues that are bothering you.

Often, we unintentionally undermine our own healing by overthinking or "getting in our own way." If you're comfortable with it, binaural music can be incorporated to help you get out of the “top brain”/"thinking brain" (i.e., neo cortex) and drop into the "emotional brain"/"body based brain" (i.e., sub-cortex).

Your therapist will help you identify body sensations and emotions related to the issue you're focusing on. In this way, Brainspotting facilitates “bottom-up” processing, which can lead to lasting, positive change.

Why eye positions?

Brainspotting incorporates eye positions because the eyes are connected to the survival center of the brain, constantly orienting to safety and/or threat.

Brainspotting simply optimizes this naturally occurring process for use in therapy. Your therapist holds a safe space that allows you to venture deeper into your brain than you might've imagined possible.

Many clients who've experienced Brainspotting report that they heal more quickly and deeply than they expected.
