Please read through these FAQs completely for clarity around our payment and insurance processes, and reach out to us at info@greenmountaincounseling.com with any specific questions you may have.
How much do therapy sessions cost?
Appointments range between $70 and $180 for a 45 minute session, depending on which therapist you meet with. See chart above for specific pricing.
Which payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express, as well as payment via HSA, HRA, and Flex Medical Accounts. Payment must be made at time of service.
We also accept payment via the VEST EAP program. Please reach out to us if you are eligible for sessions through this program.
Do you accept MY insurance?
Green Mountain Counseling is in-network with Health First Colorado Medicaid, for individuals with Colorado Community Health Alliance (CCHA) Colorado Access, and Rocky Mountain Health Plans Medicaid plans.
We are currently not in-network with any other insurance providers.
can i be reimbursed by my insurance company?
Some insurance companies allow for out-of-network reimbursement. After paying out of pocket for your therapy session, you would personally send a superbill (itemized bill) to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please note that we are unable to provide a superbill for any services provided by our counseling interns, nor do we contact any insurance directly concerning superbills or reimbursement.
WHY wouldn’t i pay through insurance if i have it?
While you're free to go through your insurance (or not) for therapy, we want you to make an informed decision.
Insurance companies will only pay for care they determine is “medically necessary”. To establish this, a therapist must submit a diagnosis and prove that this diagnosis is significantly impairing the way you function. This information will be listed on your permanent medical record.
Even if you're struggling significantly, you might not meet criteria for a psychiatric diagnosis from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). And because the DSM includes no diagnostic codes for couples, therapy with you and your partner is unlikely to be covered by insurance.
If you choose to pursue coverage and your insurance allows for you to see out-of-network providers, Green Mountain Counseling can provide a receipt for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. We're also glad to consult with you to determine whether submitting to insurance is the best option for you.
